Strengthening of coexistence and prevention of radicalisation
For over twenty years, the city of Malaga has supported the right of immigrants to interact economically, religiously, socially and culturally with a host society under the terms of applicable national legislation, while also maintaining a sense of its own cultural identity, which has led to a genuine intercultural coexistence.
However, and in the face of the global phenomena of violent radicalisation that have been observed with concern in the last few years, Malaga has faced the challenge of finding ways to adopt diversity while maintaining unity; to this end, the National Strategic Plan to Combat Violent Radicalisation has been developed, having been chosen by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior as a pilot city for its implementation; as well as the honour of working with the Intelligence Centre for Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO) for its implementation. The city has developed the First Transversal Plan for Coexistence and Prevention of Violent Radicalisation in the city of Malaga.
The implementation of this plan has meant an in-depth analysis of the national and international reality, as well as the local situation, which is why Malaga has been invited to participate in many international forums to share this experience (OSCE Security Days, Strong Cities Network Global Summit, etc.).
CIFAL Málaga contributes through the deep knowledge and great experience, internationally recognised, that our city has developed on the subject, through the methodology used in the realisation of the plan, practical examples and lessons learned throughout its implementation.
