Sustainable Tourism Strategies for Local Development
The definition of Sustainable Tourism according to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is [The type of] «Tourism that takes full account of the current and future economic, social and environmental impacts to meet the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and the host communities». Thanks to the diversity of the relationships involved in tourism activity, sustainable tourism can act as a catalyst for change in the world, benefiting the fight against causes such as hunger, peace and security, and the promotion of local economies.
The course has 1 ECTS credit approved by the University of Malaga. In addition, if you take this course in the other language we offer, you will still only get 1 ECTS credit, since the content is the same, only the language changes.

objetivos
The ultimate goal of the course is for participants to be able to understand and apply key sustainability concepts to the management of tourism destinations, understand the conceptual framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as applied to the management of tourism destinations, and understand how to apply the SDGs to the management of tourism destinations.
The programme will aso show how to apply the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to tourism and will allow the teach the studentshow to handle them in relation to destination management, and understand the importance of communication techniques to raise awareness of sustainability.
enfoque
The course consists of four modules, with an evaluation per module and a final evaluation; in all cases, the student has to obtain 80 per cent of the answers to qualify for the certificate. The course has an interactive forum to interact with other students and the course coordinator.
